The Hotel Association of Canada’s Hall of Fame Awards of Excellence Program recognizes those of its members (individuals, companies, properties) that have demonstrated significant accomplishments, exemplary leadership and tireless commitment to Canada’s lodging industry.

Awards are presented annually in the following categories:

The Humanitarian Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize those working in or who are affiliated with Canada’s lodging industry who demonstrate dedication and responsiveness to the needs of the local, national and/or global community. 

2013 Humanitarian Award Winner
Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre

The Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre has been selected to receive the 2013 HAC Award of Excellence in the category of Humanitarian. The property and staff receive this award in recognition of their long history and dedication as a generous supporter of many charitable campaigns and initiatives including spreading Christmas cheer to local people in need, purchasing, cooking and preparing Christmas turkey dinner at the Salvation Army Hall. Staff are very engaged and support the community in many ways, both financially and through hundreds of volunteer hours.  Charity begins at home; for Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre home is the Parksville Qualicum Beach region of Vancouver Island, BC. 

The Human Resources Award

Given for programs/individuals that develop a climate conducive to new and/or repeat business, create goodwill among guests, provide special services, reverse negative public relations situations or effectively solve guest complaints. 


2013 Human Resources Award Winner 
Gold Eagle Lodge

The Gold Eagle Lodge, North Battleford, Saskatchewan, has been selected as the 2013 HAC Award of Excellence recipient in the category of Human Resources. Gold Eagle Lodge has made a commitment to their associates and community by continually providing a dedication to professionalism in tourism through well trained and enthusiastic staff.  The property believes in their ability to provide a genuine hospitality experience for all guests. Training plays a key role in staff development and with the support of Saskatchewan Tourism Education Council (STEC) the Gold Eagle Lodge has become a leader in the industry. Gold Eagle Lodge staff is aware of trends in the labour market and continually stretch the imagination on the term “traditional” workforce. Together they are strong and face a future of positive people resource management.

Green Key Environment Award

Recognizes lodging properties that have developed a culture towards integrating environmental management practices that improve everyday operations and the bottom line, while maintaining quality service and meeting guest expectations.

2013 Green Key Energy & Environment Award Winner 
Delta Hotels & Resorts

Delta Hotels & Resorts has been selected as the 2013 HAC Award of Excellence recipient in the category of Energy & Environment.  Delta Hotels & Resorts demonstrates industry leadership and commitment to protecting the environment through their Delta Greens program. Environmental sustainability is at the core of the organization and employees and management have embraced the program. A culture of environmental responsibility has been firmly planted in everything they do. Delta Hotels & Resorts is a leader in Environmental Sustainability within the Canadian Hospitality Industry.
