THE ROLE OF HOTEL MARKETING & CAN IT BE REPLACED BY REVENUE MANAGEMENT?
 (Toronto Ballroom)

Years ago, hotel marketers needed to understand the role of positioning, and the creative arts: advertising and media. Today, so it seems, marketing is mostly technology-based: Google Adwords, channel management of rates/offers through OTA's and motivating positive TripAdvisor ratings. Advertising is a rare bird!
Do we really need marketing folks anymore, or can we just delegate the odd ad job and leave the decisions regarding how best to optimize occupancy and ADR to our revenue management teams?
