François-Olivier Gagnon is the Associate Chief Executive Officer of Mi’gmawei Mawiomi Business Corporation (MMBC), the economic development corporation owned by the Mi’gmaq communities of Gespeg, Gesgapegiag and Listuguj. Since joining the organization in its early years, he has played a central role in shaping MMBC’s strategic direction, partnerships and growth across multiple sectors.

Working closely with the CEO and the Board, François-Olivier contributes to corporate strategy, project development, investment structuring and partnership development. He is actively involved in the advancement of major renewable energy and infrastructure initiatives, including large-scale wind and solar projects, as well as in the diversification of MMBC’s investment portfolio. His work focuses on building long-term economic value for the three communities through equity participation, strategic alliances and sustainable development opportunities.

Recognized for his ability to connect public, private and Indigenous partners, François-Olivier plays a key role in stakeholder relations across Québec and Canada. He regularly collaborates with governments, utilities, financial institutions, municipalities and industry partners to advance community-led economic development initiatives.

Originally from New Richmond, François-Olivier maintains a longstanding and genuine connection with the Mi’gmaq communities of the region. He is deeply committed to MMBC’s mission of creating sustainable economic opportunities that support community autonomy, responsible use of the territory and prosperity for future generations.
