Alison Hunter is the General Manager of the multi-award-winning Hyatt Place Ottawa West. She successfully opened the property during the height of the pandemic and has been a leader in sustainable hospitality from day one. Under her guidance, the hotel became one of the first to launch with a 5 Key certification from Green Key Global. A passionate, people-centric leader, Alison prioritizes employee satisfaction, believing that happy associates are essential to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
With a 30-year career in hospitality, Alison has held various operational and sales leadership roles with major brands including Delta, Marriott, and Hilton. Her deep-rooted passion for sustainability influences every decision at the hotel, where environmental responsibility and purpose-driven purchasing are paramount.
Alison is also an engaged community leader. She is the former President of the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa and has mentored students in Algonquin College’s Event Management Program for many years. She currently sits on the Program Advisory Council for the Hotel and Restaurant Management Program. Additionally, she has served as a board member for the Ottawa Gatineau Hotel Association, Water Polo Canada, and currently the Bells Corners Business Improvement Association. Her involvement with Ottawa Tourism includes contributing to the Marketing, Membership, and Convention Committees.
Outside of work, Alison enjoys connecting with nature, spending time by the water, and keeping up with her young children. She is also an accomplished event emcee and sports announcer, having lent her voice to many international events including the Pan American Games.
