The Delta Dartmouth was fully renovated from an outdated mid-range Ramada hotel into a 174 room contemporary corporate-class hotel located in the Burnside Business Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The new Delta Dartmouth is the only full service hotel of its class in the area. Featuring a premium aesthetic and a modern take on comfort, the hotel caters to corporate travellers offering free Wi Fi, in-room network televisions, Grab & Go meals and Starbucks® coffee.

The hotel boasts a true Nova Scotian hospitality with a friendly and accommodating staff that makes guests feel as if they are home. The Delta Dartmouth is a family run business and they greatly value every team member. This appreciation and commitment allowed them to retain 90% of their staff following the renovation.

This revitalization project was not just about creating a great hotel, but also about reflecting their community, which is growing and modernizing. They took great care to incorporate the charm of Dartmouth (The City of Lakes), Nova Scotia into the hotel through incorporating lake and paddling themes within the custom artwork throughout the hotel and showpiece art installation in the main lobby. Dartmouth iconography extends to the food and beverage offerings to create an authentic local experience.

The renovation went over and above brand standards to create an exemplary finished product and optimal guest experience. Their wellness centre is now over 3,000 sq. ft., four times the size of the previous property, and outfitted with brand-new cardio and weight training equipment, for a brand name gym experience within the hotel. As opposed to one Wi Fi node per every seven rooms (as is average), they installed one Wi Fi node for every two rooms allowing guests to operate up to seven devices with no lag time.

Food and beverage at the Delta Dartmouth is designed to provide fresh chef-prepared items in a casual setting. The main eatery is a welcoming space where guests can feel comfortable enjoying a coffee and working on their laptop or enjoying a full executive chef prepared meal with wine parings. This is achieved through open space with varied seating of traditional restaurant seating, loungers, bar stools and couches. It is a social room that is unlike any hotels in the market.

The Delta Dartmouth boasts the largest conference facility in the area, with over 10,000 sq. ft. of elegant event space. The largest of the seven banquet rooms can facilitate up to 350 people. Smaller business groups can be accommodated in the 11 state-of-the-art breakout meeting rooms. All functions are fully serviced by the hotel’s professionally trained events staff.

The Delta Dartmouth is a fit for the local market as the Burnside Business Park is rapidly expanding. The Burnside Industrial Park is the largest industrial park north of Boston and east of Montreal, with more than 1,400 businesses employing in excess of 18,000 people. The park is located within minutes of downtown Halifax, and twenty minutes away from the Halifax International Airport. Since the original hotel was built in 1991, growth in the area has seen the development of a major destination shopping district, Dartmouth Crossing, which includes over 85 offerings including box stores, boutiques, restaurants, and services; a new four-pad arena complex; and the only IKEA east of Quebec. This aligns with the hotel’s repositioning strategy to capture the corporate traveller with a secondary market of leisure guests, creating demand throughout the week and weekend.
